Kahilu Theatre will present a program of live music from Life in Pursuit and a circus performance from the skilled youngsters of Puna-based Hiccup Circus during the Waimea Healthy Keiki Fest on Saturday.
Since 1984, the award-winning Hiccups have been a regular feature at Big Island festivals and parades, performing for community events and benefits. The group’s program has also been featured across the Hawaiian Islands, as well as along the West Coast.
The Hiccups will perform stilt walking, juggling, magic, contortion, comedy and unicycling. They will “walk about” throughout the festival and around the Kahilu Theatre during the morning.
At 10:30 a.m. and noon, the Hiccups will perform at Kahilu Gallery. Kahilu will also offer hands-on origami, a pavement chalking contest, free balloon animals, and try-it-yourself hula hoops and juggling.
Life in Pursuit is a three-piece group hailing from the Hamakua Coast. The members are brothers Chase and Carl Kauhane and longtime friend Ryan Higgins. “Life in Pursuit” currently leads worship regularly at their home church, Calvary Chapel Hamakua.
The Kahilu Theatre table at the festival will offer more pavement chalks, as well as information about upcoming programs, including Summer Arts and Keiki Performing Arts Workshop programs.
